Fish platter

Serving the best of local produce, and freshly caught fish and seafood

Located on the site that was formerly HIX Oyster & Fish House, the restaurant is Mark Hix’s solo venture, serving the best of local produce, fish and seafood caught off the Dorset coast, often from Lyme Bay itself.

We are open  days a week from Tuesday evening to Sunday lunchtime.

Daily Changing Dishes

Menus

Our whole ethos has always been, and will always be, about supporting local fishermen and producers. It’s at the heart of who we are as a restaurant, serving locally caught fish and shellfish, brought directly to us from the fishermen. Our menus are simple – a selection of oysters, snacks and several starters, followed by simply grilled fish on the bone.

The main event will be all about the fish (and lobster if they’ve been caught that day!). We will show you the fish of the day to choose from, or you might opt for a mixed grilled fish to share.

Our classic scrumpy-fried fish and chips will always be available, which is also gluten free.

We do not have meat dishes on the menu, as we  stay true to our name, but we will always have vegetarian/vegan dishes available. And of course, something for the little ones.

What Mark's Drinking

Drinks

Our small wine list features locally grown and produced still and sparkling wine from local vineyard Castlewood – located just ten minutes from the restaurant.

You can also expect some of your well known favourites such as Picpoul and Chablis, as well as our own wine Tonnix.

Tonnix is a joint venture between Mark Hix and Mitch Tonks of the Rockfish and Seahorse restaurants, which was inspired by a visit to the Douro Valley in the late summer of 2010. Tonnix is produced by Sophia Berqvist of Quinta de la Rosa in the Douro Valley, Portugal exclusively for the Hix and Tonks sites. The label is designed by Mark’s friend and well-known artist Tracey Emin.
